I have spent the majority of my 26 years in Kansas City, Kansas, USA. I grew up in
a household with my mom, dad, older brother, and a mini-dachshund named Poco, who had the distinct honor of being
crowned the second ugliest dog in our city. As I grew, so did my family. Over the years I
have added into my life a step-mother, five step-siblings, and a lovely neice! It gets a little crazy during the holidays,
but I love it!
I went to elementary, middle, and high school in Kansas. For college, I headed north to Des Moines,
Iowa, where I attended Drake University for 5 years. I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and concentrations
in Art and Special Education.
After graduation, I went on a cross country excursion down the U.S. Pacific coast and ended up
back in KC. It was quite the trip!
I was ready to begin teaching. I searched for a teaching position in Kansas City, Kansas. The
student population, in addition to their reputation as an innovative urban school district, led me to a full time teaching
position at John Fiske Elementary School. I have been there ever since!
